Today I am joined by BDO number 5 Dean Reynolds who has been making a name for himself in 2016 getting to the semi final of the BDO World Trophy, getting to final of the Scottish Open, winning 6 Development Tour Events in the PDC. Also winning the French Open in 2015.
1. Thanks for joining me Dean, very much appreciated, how are you feeling going into Lakeside? As in is the practice going well and have you prepared well?
I'm feeling really good going into Lakeside this year. Practice is going well, a lot of time on the board over the Christmas period with friends and family that play darts also been to a few competitions for a bit of match practice.
2. You reached the Semi Final of the World Darts Trophy not so long ago, beating two great players in Danny Noppert and Martin Adams, how were you feeling after that tournament? What did it mean to you? Beating some big names in the BDO?
The World Trophy was an important competition for me as it was more proving to myself that I was able to mix it with the big names in the BDO but also play well in front of the cameras on the Lakeside stage, which gave me great confidence for the rest of the year.
3. You won 6 Development Tour Events in 2016. How did them wins make you feel? The standard on them days would be outstanding, I'm sure you were pleased with your performances?
Yes absolutely, so pleased with my form on the Development tour as it was my last year on the tour . Those weekends are really tough with 4 events per weekend and the competition is so high, I was really pleased with how I kept my concentration and form throughout the year.
4. How pleasing is it when you have your family at the venue cheering you on? I'm sure it gives you a lot of confidence?
It's a great help, my family are so supportive and are always there for me. They travel to as many of the competitions as they can. But also my girlfriend who travels with me everywhere makes it so much easier. Plus her family who love darts and are always there to help and support.
I'm very lucky.
5. Do you think you can win the BDO World Championships this year? I'm sure you're confident you can!
Yes. I've gained valuable experience doing the tour this year and picked up some big wins. I won my first off camera major in the English Classic so I'm going to give it a right good go.
6. Last question, After the BDO World Championships, would you consider moving over to PDC after winning your card by topping the development tour table?
I've not thought about, just focusing on Lakeside.
Thanks for joining me Dean, all the very best of luck for next week at Lakeside!
