Vincent van der Voot vs Kyle Anderson
In this exciting and quick tie, Vincent van der Voot, ranked 16 in the world, takes on Austrialian World Cup star, Kyle Anderson who is going up the rankings, he is currently ranked 33 in the world. As for Vincent, he did ok at the World Championships getting to the last 16. But since then, his form has dipped, the best round he has got to, infact was in the Players Championships event in April. Although he got the quarter final of the masters at the start of the year, he also got to the last 16 of the U.K. open. He hasn't really been doing well in the Euro Events aswell so this year's Matchplay could be vital not only his ranking, but his confidence. He can beat anyone on his day. As for his compatriot, Kyle Anderson. He has hade a solid year, getting to the last 32 of the World Championships. Since then, he has been very solid indeed, getting to some quarter finals of the pro tour events. He also got to the Quarter Final of the U.K. Open but losing 10-0 to Jelle Klaasen. At the World Cup of darts he really impressed and didn't disappoint. He held his nerve and composure same with Simon Whitlock his Austrialian Team mate. They got a good run to the Quarter Final. He got to the Semi Finals of the Austrian Euro Event, beating Michael van Gerwen, Jelle Klaasen along the way eventually losing out to the greatest of all Phil Taylor who beat Michael Smith in the final. I expect this to be a tight one and Kyle to win just based on recent form.

In this clash, Robert Thornton takes on a young rising star Josh Payne who is an exciting player going up the rankings! As for Robert, let's be honest since his World Grand Prix win over Michael van Gerwen he hasn't been great. Getting beat in the first round of the World Championships. In the masters early on this year, he was 8-0 up in the first round against Chisnall, Chisnall made it 8-8 and Chisnall actually won the game coming from 8 behind! Robert also got beat in the second round of the U.K. open, losing to Arron Monk. In the Premier League despite surviving relagation, he didn't play well at all. He also won a pro tour event recently, beating James Wade. Josh was on a ton plus finish and James was on a double to win it, well Josh takes it out the ton plus finish and won it! He will be in the top 16 in no time in my opinion. This will be his debut at the Matchplay this year. I expect Josh to win this match! Even though Thornton is the seeded player but I think Josh will win this match comfortably aswell!
