Today we are joined by PDC Referee Paul Hinks
Thanks for joining me Paul hope you enjoy the interview!
Q1. Who is the greatest darts player of all time, in your opinion?
Without doubt Phil Taylor.
Q2. What made you become a PDC referee?
Was very much into darts, refereeing County matches and doing exhibition matches with Dennis Priestley. At the time the PDC were looking out for a 4th referee to link up with Freddie Williams, Bruce Spendley and Russ Bray. Dennis asked me if I was interested in doing this, I said yes, we enquirer with the PDC Tournament Director at the time Tommy Cox and was invited along to be listened to, I was successful and this was 13 years ago and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
Q3. What advice would you give to young people playing darts maths wise?
To remain calm and think, and use the numerous ways of checking out with 3 darts as there are many and to also think if you are close to a 170 leave to work out the score to bring you within finishing range.
Q4. If you weren't a PDC Referee, where would we find you?
I look after my grandson 3 days per week and I have also been the chairman of my local darts league for 37 years, so mainly at home although my wife and myself like to go to town and on holidays.
Q5. How many nine darters have you called?
14 altogether, 8 on live television. the amazing thing is though that I have never called a Phil Taylor or Michael Van Gerwen in these 14 that I have called.
Q6. Finally, what marking team do you enjoy working with on stage?
I don't mind really as we are a very good team and work well together under any circumstances.
Thanks a lot Carter it has been a pleasure answering your questions.
Thanks for joining me Paul, hope you enjoyed the questions and have a good Matchplay!
