Today I am joined by 'The Hammer' Andy Hamilton.
Thanks for joining me Andy, hope you enjoy the interview!
Q1. Who is your best friend on the circuit?
There's no best friends for me really, I get along really well with all the players, but it's like any job we all work together and but we all want to be better than everyone else. All friends off the oche but when it's game on everything changes.
Q2. Who inspired you to be a dart thrower?
My dad was always my biggest inspiration, from a young age my dad was always playing darts and I wanted to be just like him. Professionally my biggest inspiration was John Lowe, I looked up to him.
Q3. What advice would you give to young people playing darts?
To play the game you have got to love the game, you've got to enjoy practicing whether that's alone or with others. As with anything in life practice makes perfect.
Q4. If you weren't playing darts, where would we find you?
To be honest you'd probably find me somewhere on a building site, I've worked with electrics from the age of 18, I'm a qualified electrician. For the majority of darts players it's very important to have a qualification behind you, for some players darts might not be your full time job, luckily for myself I turned professional in 2010.
Q5. What is your goal until the end of the year?
I want to improve my results from the previous two years, personally they haven't been up to my standard. Progression is key for me for the rest of this year.
Q6. Do you think you can get back into the top 10 again and get back to competing in the Premier League?
That's my aim, I've been there before so I know there's no reason why I can't be there again, I know myself I can do it, it's all about putting the hard work in and getting the results, with my new darts I feel confident, refreshed and ready to battle my way back to the top! It's Hammertime!!
Thanks for joining me Andy, hope you enjoyed the interview!
